🎲

Understanding the likelihood of your hand winning.
👁
Reading People
Watching how others bet and react gives you an edge.
🍀
A Little Luck!
The cards you're dealt are random — strategy is the rest.

BETTING

Betting Options & Blinds

ActionWhat It Means
CHECKPass without betting — only if no bet has been made yet
BETPut chips in the pot to open the betting for that round
CALLMatch the current bet amount to stay in the hand
RAISEIncrease the bet — others must call your new amount or fold
FOLDGive up your hand — you're out of this round
ALL-INBet all your remaining chips at once
💡 Blinds: Before cards are dealt, two players make forced bets — Small Blind and Big Blind — to seed the pot.
POSITION

Table Position

E
Early Position
You act first — play only strong hands. Less information available.
M
Middle Position
More info from early bettors. Slightly more flexibility.
L
Late Position ("The Button")
Best seat! You act last and have seen everyone else bet first.
💡 The later you act, the more information you have. Use it!
STRATEGY PREVIEW

Pot Odds & Probability (Beginner Preview)

🎯
What Are "Outs"?
Cards remaining in the deck that can improve your hand.

Example: 9 hearts left in deck = 9 outs for a flush draw.
💰
Simple Pot Odds
Pot = $100, call = $10. You risk $10 to win $110 — those are good odds to call!
💡 Full pot odds math is covered in the Intermediate lesson.
MISTAKES TO AVOID

Common Beginner Mistakes

🙈
Playing Too Many Hands
Be patient. It's okay to fold most hands.
😤
"Chasing" Bad Hands
If your hand is weak, fold early. The cards rarely save you.
😶
Not Paying Attention
Watch others even when you've folded — it's free information.
🎭
Bluffing Too Much
Save bluffing for the right moment. Beginners overdo it.
💬
Talking About Your Hand
Never reveal cards or reactions during play.
😡
Playing on "Tilt"
Frustration leads to poor decisions. Stay calm.
ETIQUETTE

Poker Etiquette — The Unwritten Rules

✅ DO
Act in turn — wait until it's your turn to bet
Keep your cards on the table at all times
Be respectful — win or lose graciously
Announce your action clearly: "Call," "Raise," "Fold"
Protect your hand — put a chip on your cards
❌ DON'T
Don't discuss the hand while it's still going
Don't slow-roll a winning hand
Don't splash chips — place them neatly
Don't give advice to players still in the hand
Don't use your phone during a hand
